I'm just a country girl from down south, with a love for God, books, dreaming, and being creative. I have a fondness for all things 80s, an eclectic taste in music and a passion for dogs, photography and writing. I like to spend time surfing the web, reading and oddly enough, cutting the grass. I hope you will find something interesting, wacky or creative enough to make you want to sit and visit for a while. Nablopomo

new things and old habits

bc205.jpgnew things

I joined the blogging chicks!

I hope to meet a lot of new bloggers and maybe share a few stories!

old things

I went shopping Saturday.  Let me just tell you that I hate shopping.  I will go and get what I can in one day....that's it.  I don't go back!  I can't stand the crowds and the waiting (because the store doesn't have enough people at work).  Oh, and I just love the fact that the JC Penneys in my area was a sauna (The air conditioning is controlled from the main office in Arkansas!  I was told by a former employee!)

I am now going to relate a couple of things that I overheard in the dressing room.  To all the mothers out there that might read my blog, please do not take this as an insult.  Believe me, I know how my mother would have handled these situations, and it is nothing like I am about to describe.

FYI:  The SEARS that went to only has two dressing rooms.

Conversation

I was waiting for a dressing room at this time.  I never heard the child say anything.

Mother:  "Mommie is getting dressed.  Put your shoes on.   I said to put your shoes on!  If you don't put your shoes back on....I am going to start counting.  Put your shoes back on!"

****Okay....I was waiting for the dressing room.  I wanted to tell her to just put the shoes on for him/her because I needed the room.

Mother:  "I SAID to put your shoes on!  Okay, I am going to start counting.......1..........2.......there are people waiting! Put your shoe on!  Oh....(big sigh)...come on!

She opens the door.  I am waiting for a child about four to come out ...with or without a shoe.  I couldn't believe it!  The little boy couldn't have been two yet, and she was yelling at him about his shoe.  I understand independence, but this was a little bit much when you are in a dressing room....and others are waiting.  At that age, my Mother would have put my shoe on, and we would have been on our merry little way.

At the same time, there was a Mother in the other dressing room.  She had left her four or five year old son on the chair by the door.  I was thinking to myself how easy it would have been for someone to lure him out of there.  She would talk to him every so often, but still I thought of how dangerous it was to leave him there......for total strangers to see.  There are too many evil people in this world to take a chance like that!  I would have him in the dressing room with me!

the upside

I did find some clothes, thank goodness!  I am the type that if I find a pair of pants or shirt I like, then I buy a couple of them in different colors!  Crazy maybe!  Oh, and I finally got a new purse.  I am picky about my purses!  (My friend kept making comments about my purse because the straps were literally being held together by a couple of strings!  I bought one from Goodies the other day, and it broke two days after I got it!

I just love my new Liz Claiborne!

(Maybe this one will last a while!)

I so agree with you about the evil out there and how easy it would have been to lure him out. I hate it when I see children without a parent's eye on them. This is a very scary world!

Hi my friend!

Thanks for the email… I’m trying to catch up on some comments and some blogs while the Percs have me somewhat pain controlled but I don’t think I’m going to make it down the whole list.

I like the purse… nice choice. I love purse and wallet shopping. I love shoe shopping I LOVE LOVE LOVE electronic shopping I hate all other shopping.

I think it’s because I only really buy clothes when I need to go somewhere and I’m under pressure to find an ‘appropriate’ outfit for whatever the occasion… I HATE THAT!

I’m with you on the dressing room drama… I hate those parents that are counting and threatening to put them in a time out when the kid is being unreasonable Or in your case when the kid probably wasn’t even 2… I swear you should need a license to procreate!

I’m with you on the evil world we live in. I don’t even let my dog leave my site let alone a kid! Come on people!!

As a mother, I totally agree with your assessment of those mothers that you encountered in the dressing room. That's so sad. I would never leave my child unattended and she's 8! And to expect a 2y/o to put on their own shoes is just crazy.
One of the main points of the dicipline books that I read as a new mom was to understand what your child is capable of at what age.
I get a kick out of watching Super Nanny because these parents ask for her to come and straighten out their kids only to learn that THEY are the ones who need to be straightened out.
